ON ASSIGNMENT

Obviously, I haven't got too many pictures of myself on cool assignments as I have been behind the camera for most of my life. It's the name of the game for most photographers, it's one of the many implicit parts of the ever-changing job descriptions.

However, I did manage to dig up a handful of pictures. Enjoy...

CREDITS

I truly appreciate all the wonderful pictures I've received from all you kind photographers over the years.

Unfortunately, I don't have all your names, as I only met some of you once. Hence, some pictures on display have no credits.

And I am not happy about that!

So, if you happen to find your uncredited picture here, please let me know asap. Then, I will either remove the picture(s) or (hopefully) leave it here on the page properly credited.

Thank you.

NEKO HARBOR, ANTARCTICA

I've always tried to keep my distance to the enchanting penguins, but this little gentoo chick snuck up on me as I was fumbling with my cameras.

And then, all I can do is wait for him to move along.

THE NORTHWEST PASSAGE, CANADA

Going through the Northwest Passage on board the world's first hybrid electric expedition cruise ship, MS Roald Amundsen (well, photographing it from a zodiac).

To the left is my esteemed colleague Stefan Dall and to the right is the ship's bosun, Tommy Didriksen.

FAXAFLOI BAY, ICELAND

Occasionally, two ships of the same company cross path in open sea. In this case it's the expeditionships MS Fram (pictured) and MS Spitsbergen from the Norwegian company Hurtigruten.

A small MOB (Man Overboard boat) was used for me to get pictures of the midnight sun rendez vous.

NEW YORK CITY, UNITED STATES

Setting up the camera for a New York skyline evening shot. Nothing exhausts a photographer and his equipment as much as a brief visit in the Big Apple.

FORTUNA BAY, SOUTH GEORGIA

Moving in, slowly, on a chunky male elephant seal trying to take a rest from the annoying photographer.

On land elephant seals are not really fast (compared to most people), but they are viscious when fighting and nobody wants to get caught underneath one of those big guys.

WADI RUM, JORDAN

Trying to understand this strange world through the lens...

No, not really, just trying to get a nice shot of my local arab guide returning from taking a leak.

DECEPTION ISLAND, ANTARCTICA

The skuas are absolutely tremendous models and I have probably spend way too much time photographing those cool birds than photographing what I was really assigned to focus on.

The Czech Republic

A younger version of yours truly on a train station somewhere in The Czech Republic, flashing my most treasured camera, the only camera I ever owned for more than 10 years.

DECEPTION ISLAND, ANTARCTICA

On the lookout for a flock of charming chinstrap penguins.

They were just there, in the mist, and suddenly they dissapeared...
