L'Anse aux Meadows

At the tip of Newfoundland's stunning Northern Peninsula lies L'Anse aux Meadows, the first known evidence of European presence in the Americas.

Nowadays, it's a fairly big archaeological site and it's the only known Norse settlement in North America, dating back to around 1000 AD.
